Kerry Patuka

Kerry began scouting in the fall of 2006 when she left full-time ministry to home school their son. She and her husband (Paul) were looking for a much-needed activity for her son. There was no Tiger den to join and there were no other Tiger Scouts, so Kerry became a den leader and recruited 2 other boys to start her den.

Scouting was a perfect fit for Kerry and her family. Her son had a place to learn new things and to make new friends. Being a scout gave her son some much needed success and a sense of pride in who he was and what he was accomplishing. This year, the new wolf den has increased to 8 boys and with many boys earning numerous belt loops, pins and awards, including the recruiter strip. Scouting is the best hour of the week for many of the boys in the den!

As an educator and a children's pastor, as well as a writer, trainer and speaker on parenting topics, Kerry found a place where she felt she could contribute. She completed her training as a den leader, attended Wood Badge in spring of 2007. As a 92-55 owl,she earned her tiger knot, the God Send Award and served as special events coordinator at Twilight Camp. Kerry was recruited by the district commissioner during her involvement in Twilight Camp as an assistant during the summer. Kerry became very involved with several units as Unit Commissioner and participated in training events held for commissioners by the Council and District.

During 2007, Kerry served as the District Popcorn Kernel, wolf den co-leader, assistant Cubmaster, Unit Commissioner and as a trainer with her pack and the district. In April of 2008 she was recognized with the Arrowhead Honor, was elected by fellow commissioners as Commissioner of the Year for Three Rivers District. At about the same time she served as a Troop Guide of the Fox patrol during Wood Badge 92-58 and is continuing to serve in the summer of 2008 as the Twilight Camp Director for the District. Beginning in May of 2008 Kerry was called to become the Cubmaster of Pack 3030 where she had been working for the previous two years. At the same time she became the Assistant District Commissioner for Training in Three Rivers. As Camp Director for Tiwlight Camp in the summer of 2008 she found herself involved at the highest local level yet.

Kerry's personal goal is to make scouting the best hours of every scout's week.
